The 1979 $5 bill is blue with a multicoloured tint.
It displays a portrait of
Sir Wilfrid Laurier on the face side and
a Salmon seiner, Johnston Strait, Vancouver Island on the back. The name of the
boat pictured was the "BCP 45". (British Columbia Packers)

A special issue of test notes were release to test the wearing
properties of new inks and paper. These notes have serial
numbers that start with "33".
Replacement notes are designated by a "31" as the first two digits
of the serial number.
