| The Multi-Coloured issue, unlike the previous Bank of Canada issues, does not have a common date for all denominations,
being slowly release between 1969-1975. Termination of the 1954
series was necessary because the alphabet was used up in the serial numbers. Counterfeiting had also become a serious problem.
The Bank of Canada then released notes on different dates starting with the $20 note in 1969. The last to be released was the $100 note on
May 31, 1976 (even though it had been engraved and printed in 1975).
